there's a yawning emptiness here. i'm reaching for words that should be easy. i'm reaching for something that isn't visual, tangible, pictorial. my fingers shouldn't linger on these keys, but they do. resting here against plastic, waiting.

just waiting for something to happen. for this ache in the back of my throat to become something more. something oral, aural, literary. my fingers are waiting, trying to pull words from a blank brain, past tense shoulders, tight elbows, into the waiting fingers.

but there's nothing there. just the stretch of silence. the wait. like the wait is more important than the result; the wait becomes something more in the interim. it's a soundless cry, mouth open with a gasping pain, but without sound, without life, without understanding.

god, give me something to end this quiet. i can't stand it. i can't stand the wait. it hurts and builds until there's nothing left but it. until there's just the tightness growing and spreading the vast quiet in me.
