so, urr... quick catch up post??
Jul. 2nd, 2009 11:53 ami have a new camera! well, i didn't realize it was a refurb, but it's new to me, so it's ok. it's got a touchscreen and it's kinda awesome. better than my old one already. i've gotta get better pictures. and to be more comfortable in front of the camera, considering i hate every picture i've ever taken. except maybe 4 of them. (losing weight would probably help in that endeavor, considering half my problem is the way everything below my neck looks like elephantiasis.)
i had a pretty good time this weekend in evansville. i mean... had a terrible day with a mean attendant the saturday, and the beds were for shit in the hotel, but otherwise... it was nice. my poor dad. he kinda freaked out. i had guys building my self-esteem all weekend. lol. like daniel, who's trying to slow walk me down to talking to him (he's too country for me, but he's an awesome dude. not for me, but a good friend); he basically held me in conversation for most of the lunch break when he saw me. i had mike, recently divorced, who gave me full conversations for the first time in ever, considering i rarely even get hellos from him; he was an awesome attendant sunday, and hooked my parents up with seats next to each other on the wheelchair row, which the mean attendant saturday refused to do. and you had my cousins who made everything even better--cam, who wanted validation for his basketball skills, and his coolness factor in talking to girls; and carl, also recently divorced, who kept his arm around me in half hugs for the other half the lunch break on saturday and sunday. dad was kinda more upset about that before he knew it was carl, cause he couldn't figure out who this tall brown brother was all hugged up on his little girl. HILARIOUS AND AWESOME. i love my daddy.
i leave for poland next saturday! urm... yeah, i'm kinda scared. it'll be awesome. i don't doubt that. i just... i'm having a physical crisis. i'm fat, lazy and i've got a lot of walking to do in my future and it's just... i'm not as prepared for it as i wish i was. plus, i've never met my roommate, and i want her to like me, ok? is that too much to ask?
as i said maybe two weeks ago? i'm making my clothes. cut out three more skirts last night. still have yet to hem the first one. :( they aren't exactly what i wanted, you know? but that's just gonna have to be a suck-it-up maneuver. if i'd done what i was supposed to, i've got all kinds of smaller, flirtier clothes. besides, i'm supposed to be modest and whatnot when i go, so it'll just be one of those things. modest. puritanical. lol. on the plus side, i think i've got everything i needed to buy for my trip except the adapter for charging things. (on the plus side, my phone charger for a car? has a usb port! so if i have a cigarette lighter port, i can charge my phone and my camera.
i pledged at least 10000 words for getyourwordsout/findyourwords/thedailywriter this month. that's even with being gone for 3 weeks and no computer. THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG HERE. i have a 3K from yesterday, and only 100 from today. must fix that. i've got two challenges due next week that i haven't finished. or really even started. LAME.
in wiki surfing today, i went from listening to johnny cash singing "god's gonna cut you down" to him singing "ghost riders in the sky" to two separate paths-- riders in the sky and their cowboy tv show from 1991 (yay old children's television) and reading about the wild hunt and wanting to write something about that. like... seriously. (by the by, sam and dean totes need a wild hunt arc, y/y?)
someone left an mp3 player at the staff computer that wasn't staff. as a result, i've taken it to claim as my own. it will go to poland with me and i will enjoy every second of the extra free music. plus, you know, it's a 4 gb player, so i can take some decent stuff with me. plus whatever i add to the 2 gb on my phone. double walkman power, yay! i hope they have translation via radio station at the convention so i can actually listen to it in english. or french. which would also be killer.
speaking of french: my department head welcomes me to a french major. and then tells me to drop at least one of my classes next semester and spread out til fall 2010. on the plus side, montpellier may be totally attainable because you have to at least come back to fall classes to have it. also, hey, cuts down how much i have to pay on tests. also, no having to take US history. thank god. maybe i'll get to take literary fairy tale like i wanted. yay! except, you know, wanna take something easy. like... maybe i'll take fitness classes. that'd be nice. again.
so. yeah. maybe stretching out another semester as i thought i may have to anyway.
more later...
