so today, coming in from work and having had a horrible day (moving computers and cracking a nail down to the bed... ow), i decided to do some meat-eater comfort food. enter The Horseshoe.

i had some friends who moved up to springfield, il and when we would visit, getting a horseshoe was pretty much mandatory. i've been to d'arcy's and had one of their variations and it was pretty fantastic, so i suggest going there if you get the chance. also, you can't really go wrong with a meal of burger and cheese fries. stack it together and you've got AMAZINGNESS. granted, i forgot that it was an actual burger, and not sloppy joe-esque food. but still. amazing.

so, of course, no pics. my camera's dead, mom's camera's crap and i was pretty much starving.

but, i browned the ground beef (a pound, split between me and my granny), added some salsa and tomato sauce for... um, that sloppy joe feel without the sloppy joe sauce. seasoned with some chili powder. put that over my bread, stacked fries and nacho cheese on top. YUM.

my granny hadn't had one before, so she was impressed. i think she might be easily impressed.

anyway, best comfort food ever, since it took about 20 minutes to get together. multi-tasking and all, i mean. next time (which may be sooner rather than later, as i still have a pound of beef in my fridge), i'll make thin burgers and take a picture.

so, in my wanderings online, i found this awesome little blog about Cupcake Hero--the Iron Chef of cupcakes online. one theme ingredient, a deadline and the cupcake wars are off.

totally intrigued and wishing i had cupcakes, i decided to join in the latest round: White Chocolate. which, probably isn't my smartest move because no one in my family likes white chocolate. :(

raiding my cabinet yielded some pumpkin. so, being the curious sort, i set off to find some combo of pumpkin and white chocolate that will strike you. the answer? pumpkin white chocolate cheesecake. and believe you me, you cannot go wrong with cheesecake. the recipe i found called for a gingersnap crust, so i wanted to find a similar type of cupcake. one long search and lone recipe later, Made of Awesome was born.

as for me and my household, we liked them very well. they were mellow and not overwhelmingly of white chocolate. in fact, the first and most clear taste was the pumpkin, which we are very fond of. i just wish i had a camera that took better pictures.

will i make them again? definitely. they were pretty fantastic.
