fuck the american health care system.

i do realize that watching Sicko doesn't exactly give me reason to say that. it's very propagandized.

but there is a kernel of truth in what he says. the american health care system sucks. you go almost anywhere else and you get care that's basically free--you pay taxes, you get health care. in france? you pay for healthcare based on your means, but you get treated according to your needs. you have a work schedule and vacation time that's suitable to family life (35 hours a week, minimum 5 weeks vacation), and unlimited sick time.

in france, when you have sick time off, ordered by your doctor, you still get full pay. 65% paid by the gov't, 35% by your company.

i'm moving.

I felt sick to my stomach when I watched that flim! I made it my life's goal to move to up north if America doesn't get it's shit together. It's so disgusting. Other countries invest in health for their citizens? And what do we get when most of us have to work at least 2 jobs to get by??? Nothing.

i'm with you. i was nearly crying watching it cause you see that people are struggling to make it, and big business is making money hand over fist. and then you've got other countries that say "ok, must keep folks healthy. raise taxes to pay for it, but make sure everyone gets healthcare."

i talked to my mom about it and she said that since every state is basically equal to a country (kentucky is bigger than the UK anyway), it's too big of a job to do that in the states. i just think that privatized insurance is ripping people.
