alright, so update.

still in pain, though less than yesterday. sorta. my left shoulder's ridiculously tight and painful, and it was less so yesterday. but on the bright side, my forearm and chest, where the airbag hit hardest, are less bruised. still red, still painful to touch, but still less. when it first happened, it swelled ridiculously.

my car isn't totaled. thankfully i slammed my brakes hard enough that the damage was a lot less than it could've been. mostly cosmetic (new windshield, new front end lights and such), with probably a little fix going on with the motor. it crushed just a little forward.

the chick pissed me off though. she's under 21, with a baby in the car, and she's acting like i was in the wrong. but since she doesn't have insurance, the cop said she was in the wrong. besides, nothing like me being in the right anyway. the light was green for me, i was coasting at or around the speed limit going east and she just drives out in front of me to get on the expressway going south. now, my sister says that it looked like the girl stopped in the middle of the street (my sister wasn't paying too much attention, but you know), and i thought it was just me. so. anyway, i thought she slowed down too, but i slammed on the brakes thinking the whole time "shit. i'm gonna crash."

so i did. nothing quite as painful as an airbag slamming into you. my car ended up coasting about a yard or two before i got myself together enough to brake again and toss it into park. but god. my sister is awesome. she popped out the car and rushed to my side to see if i was ok. made sure my niece was alright, as she was in a seatbelt, but not in a car seat. slyly told the cop how short i am, but whatev. i don't scare her often, but i couldn't keep back a yell of pain about the airbag and my chest. ugh.

anyway. my arm aches today. i keep tryna stretch the muscle, but it hurts to move. and my shoulder is tight. but .... *shrug*

thanks everyone for worrying about me. i feel better today. if i still hurt, i'm going to the chiropractor for x-rays on monday after dropping the car at the shop. i'm more worried about my sister right now, who slammed much harder into the seat in front of her. her legs hurt, and her back. here's hoping she's ok.

May I ask where you wreaked?

I'm glad you're doing better. Will the other driver be required to pay to fix your car? I don't know how it works when the other person doesn't have insurance.

33rd and River Park. it's one way east (whoops, must now fix the entry...), so i went through the light at 34th, and she's getting on the expressway. ugh. apparently it's a terrible intersection cause everyone's rushing to get on the expressway.

my insurance is full coverage, so i think it pays for mine being fixed. not hers, i don't think. i have no clue really. i'm playing this by ear, as this is my first big accident.

Your chest may hurt, but your air bag did its job. I'm glad everyone is relatively okay, and I hope the other woman and her baby are, too.

they seemed to be alright. her little boy was running around while we waited for the cop to finish the accident report. but i know what you mean. the crash could've been much much worse, so i'm glad everyone's whole, if not out of pain yet.
