wellownedbkupafter all the side-of-the-road outpourings and the long car rides where dean refuses to 'talk about it', sam puts his foot down. picks a slightly more expensive motel on their quest between jobs and makes dean go to bed. the house with the feral kids is just too much to deal with on the fumes of roadside coffee and sleazy motel rooms. sam gets a king-sized bed, strips dean down and doesn't take no for an answer. takes care of everything while dean watches glumly from the bed.
even his brother's grumbles while sam strips down and joins him beneath the covers doesn't stop him from spooning up behind dean, one long arm pulling bodies together until dean is cradled skin to skin. and when the huffs quiet and become uncomplicated snores, sam figures he's won the battle.
the morning comes far too soon, slats of light catching dust in the air as it seeps through the curtains. sam can't help but watch his brother, all golden and untroubled as he sleeps. the heartbeat beneath his hand is steady, and cuddling back into that embrace they'd held through the night has both boys' chests rumbling with quiet joy, too much to be contained. sam pulls dean just that inch closer, the curve of his pressing against morning wood. he sighs, subconsciously rocking his hips forward again and again.
he can feel the moment dean wakes, the momentary stiffness that relaxes into that slow rolling motion. sam can't even bring himself to stop, whispers "like this" into dean's ear while his hand reaches into well-worn boxers to the prize within. they're barely awake, barely moving in their cocooned warmth. sam brings them both off like that, one arm pinned beneath his pillow while dean just takes it.
